It felt awesome waking up in a bed and knowing that we had already done our laundry and some of our town chores.

Abel, Colin and I rustled up a breakfast before Abel kindly took us to the Post Office to pick up Sarah’s new backpack, trail runners and a few other bits that Superstar Liz had sent.

We said our goodbyes to French Colin as he was heading to Lake Isabella for a couple of days to help decompress after the hike.

Sarah and I then spent the rest of the day in the Library. Working out a better mechanism to publish pictures and to schedule blog so they can happen whilst we’re hiking with the aim to get us back up to date.

A huge thanks to Rob Williams IT Ninja trail angel back in the UK. He’s been amazing helping us troubleshoot and resolve some of these problems.
I think finally we have something that works really well and we’re both extremely grateful for this.

Before starting in the Library we grabbed a couple of pieces of cherry pie from a shop called Tehachapie and a cappuccino and ice mocca from a cafe. Both were amazing.

This certainly seems to be a very hiker-friendly town and a lot of the locals have stopped to talk to us. Offering us advice a help as well as having an awareness of what we’re doing. Questioning whether we’re heading north or south.

We had also heard about a restaurant called Thai Hachapi in town and based on our love of Thai food we couldn’t resist checking it out for lunch.
We had an arrangement of appetizers which were delicious as we had been talking about hitting this place up for throughout the last section of hiking.

After a trip to Walmart Abel then kindly picked us up and took us back to his house where he had made Enchiladas and Spanish rice which was again delicious.
Abel also rustled up some delicious Margaritas which went down a treat.

Abel and Kim kindly let us stay another night + we tried to repay some of the kindness by replenishing his fridge with food and also buying a cheesecake which we had for dessert.

We had entered Tehachpi with only a basic understanding of Mexican food. By the time we left and with Abel’s Mexican influence we both feel we’re much more educated on this type of cuisine.

Once again we would like to say huge thank you to Abel for hosting us. It was a great stay and one of of favourite stops so far.
