Zero day

We were up bright n breezy and settled up the 5 bucks with the park ranger.
The campground did offer showers, although it was too cold to even entertain the idea and we figured we’d wait until we checked in it to the Idlywild Inn.

We then headed over to the Laundrette as our clothes were in dire need of a wash.

We didn’t fancy braving the cold without our thermals. So we sat in the Laundrette wearing just our rain gear, whilst our clothes washed and dried.
It was so nice to have clean clothes again.
Next up we needed a shower and then we would be back in the game.

Whilst the room was being cleaned back at the Idyllwild Inn, we popped over to a cafe called ‘The Red Kettle’ for breaky.

Sarah had a corned beef hash and me a Chicken Fried steak, which has absolutely nothing to do with chicken. It’s a thin battered fried beef steak.
Both served with hash browns and all the whistles n bells.

The breakfast was delicious and as we ate we sat out on the deck with the sun shining in our faces.

Bellies full we then headed back to the Inn and checked into our cabin. Finally we were out out the cold!
I insisted that Sarah sat and rested with an ice pack on her knee, whilst I went and resupplied.
She also made another appointment with Blaze Physio to discuss the problems she had been having.
Blaze thought it could be her IT band and gave her some exercises to follow.
If these didn’t help it could possibly be more serious and she may need an x-ray.

Idyllwild was a cute mountain town, although the resupply was both time consuming and very expensive!
I had to visit 4 different stores going back and forth making sure all the items we needed were ticked off the shopping list.
I arrived back at the cabin exhausted. Looking forward to an evening in with an open fire and some nice food.

We ended up getting Italian food from Frattelos which was excellent. The lasagna was made with mascarpone cheese and was next level. Definitely one to try when we get home.
It also came with a fresh salad, including a mix of leaves, beetroot, feta and orange segments.
All of the above were exactly what we needed and it was possibly the best meal on trail.

With the festive Christmas lights glowing in the background, we lit the fire and settled in for the evening both happy as larry.
